The Fashion Industry

Fashion Trends is a required course for all Fashion Design majors. In this course, you will learn about the history of fashion, how to apply design concepts to real-world products, and how to communicate your ideas to others in the industry. You will also explore current trends in fashion and learn how to forecast future trends.
FIDM’s fashion shows are a great way to see the work of up-and-coming designers.
The shows take place twice a year, in the spring and fall. During each show, undergraduate and graduate students from across FIDM’s nine majors present their original designs on the runway.
The designs are judged by a panel of industry experts, and prizes are awarded in various categories. The shows are free and open to the public, so anyone can come and see the work of these talented students.
